Love Is Overrated

Anis meets Madeleine, a sharp and independent woman working in a nightclub checkroom in Pigalle. Intrigued by his lies, she gives him her number, and their passionate relationship soon exposes Anis’s unresolved grief over the loss of his best friend. Mourad Winter adapts his own novel and directs Hakim Jemili and Laura Felpin with intimacy and precision. The film grants its male lead rare emotional depth, exploring vulnerability and love without irony.
